In December 2015, the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS). This Resolution is the first to recognize the important and positive role young women and men play in the maintenance and promotion of international peace and security. This landmark Resolution recognizes for the first time the positive role of young people in preventing violence, promoting inter-communal harmony, and acting as active agents in peace building. This Resolution has 5 pillars for action. The Youth, Peace and Security agenda has gained momentum in recent five years and marks an important shift to understand young people and their role in peace and security. Despite the importance of UNSCRs in supporting young people to achieve stability, the target groups of these resolutions face a challenge of awareness, knowledge, and how to use it in practice. This regional coalition will help young people to engage and involved with these agenda in the MENA region to help in bringing the stability and sustainable peace. the active involvement of international, regional organizations, and national authorities’ as well as of youth-led organizations will foster a greater cooperation between relevant actors in the MENA region to increase awareness about each other’s roles and relevance on issues related to youth, peace and security agenda.
